Letter From Our President

The Sarasota Fire Fighter's Benevolent Fund was established in 1996 to assist Sarasota County Firefighters and their families during times of crisis.

However, through successful events and fund raisers we have been able to extend our helping hand to other Firefighters around Florida and to members of our local community.

Along with assisting those in need; we have also been able to provide additional training opportunities to our local Firefighters with the help of other Fire Department organizations. The SFFBF has also joined with the Sarasota County Fire Department to revive the Critical Incident Stress Management Team.

The SFFBF currently provides two separate scholarships to our members; a "Fallen Firefighters" scholarship and a Fire/EMS scholarship for those wishing to seek employment in the Fire service.

Though the SFFBF is primarily supported by membership dues, we would not be able to provide our current level of service without the support of our fundraisers. We hold an annual "Firehouse Chili Cook-off" with Morton's Market in October and our annual "Rib Cook-off" in spring. There are also several smaller events throughout the year depending on the need and opportunity.
